Bird Key Real Estate

Bird Key is a unique island with unique Sarasota Real Estate.  Bird Key real estate is entirely made up of single-family homes. Bird Key real estate is unlike Longboat Key real estate, Lido Key real estate and Siesta Key real estate, as these islands all have a variety of different property types which range from waterfront condominiums to investment opportunity such as duplexes and villas.

Luxury Homes

The island of Bird Key is approximately 250 acres and has three distinct classifications of luxury homes which are named based upon their location on the island. These classifications of Bird Key real estate can be divided into waterfront properties and non-waterfront properties. The classifications are Garden Homes, Canal Homes and Bay-front homes.

Garden Homes

Garden Homes are located on the interior sections of the island along such roads as: Bird Key drive, Pheasant Drive and Owl Way. These are the only non-waterfront homes. Due to this fact, they are the most affordable properties on the island and are an excellent entry level or investment property.

Canal Homes

Canal homes are the second type of Luxury property composing Bird Key real estate. Unlike garden homes canal homes are waterfront properties located along the deep inner water canals which define Bird Key and lead out to the inter-coastal waterways. These homes can be found along Spoonbill Drive, Bob White Drive and North Owl Drive. These homes are extremely attractive options for boat lovers because unlike Lido Key or Siesta there are no bridges that restrict access.

Bayfront Homes

Finally, Bayfront homes are the exclusive waterfront homes that are located along the outer edge of Bird Key real estate. Bird Key waterfront homes can be found along such roads as Morning Dove, Royal Flamingo and Meadow Lark. These beautiful properties offer big open views of the Sarasota Bay and also offer a prime location to dock large sailboats or other watercraft. These homes tend to be the largest and newest of all Sarasota’s island luxury properties.

Created in the 1920’s by the dredging required to build the first bridge from mainland Sarasota to the string of Keys. Bird Key Island became the exclusive enclave of the city’s elite residents when it was developed in the 1960’s. Originally owned by John Ringling, Bird Key is heir to much of the glittering history of the circus king and his impact of the reputation and future of Sarasota.
